Google to Enhance Supercharge Assistant with ChatGPT and Bard-like AI. German Data Regulator Scrutinizes Worldcoin Crypto Project

According to an Axios article, Google intends to enhance Assistant with creative AI-powered capabilities. Google informs staff members in an email obtained by the site that it has already begun investigating a “supercharged” Assistant powered by the most recent large language models (LLM), akin to the technology used by ChatGPT and Google’s own Bard chatbot. In the email, it is said that “a portion of the team has already started working on this, beginning with mobile.”

German data authority has been looking into OpenAI CEO Sam Altman’s Worldcoin project since the end of last year because of worries about its extensive processing of private biometric data, the regulator’s president told Reuters. Users of Worldcoin, which began last week, must submit their iris scans in return for a digital ID and, in some countries, free Bitcoin, as part of efforts to develop a new “identity and financial network.” According to Michael Will, the president of the state regulator, Worldcoin is being investigated by the Bavarian State Office for Data Protection Supervision because there are worries that the project aims to process “sensitive data at a very large scale” using new technology.
