Microsoft brings Bing ChatGPT widget to iOS: Know how to use?


Microsoft's new widget, previously exclusive to Android, is now accessible on iPhones, offering users a shortcut to Bing Chat directly from their home screen.




Microsoft has recently made significant progress in merging Bing Search and OpenAI's ChatGPT. As part of their efforts, the tech giant has introduced an update to the Bing app for iOS devices. This update brings new widgets that include a shortcut to Bing Chat, which is Microsoft's chatbot powered by GPT technology.

Previously, these widgets were exclusively available on Android. However, with the latest update, iOS users can now enjoy the convenience of accessing Bing Chat with just a tap. The introduction of widgets on iOS devices was initially introduced by Apple a couple of years ago with iOS 14.

The update to the Bing app for iOS introduces two Home Screen widgets, providing users with a seamless way to start a chat. To add the Bing Chat widget to their iPhone's home screen, users can follow a few simple steps:
  • Press and hold a widget or an empty area on your iPhone's Home Screen until the apps start to jiggle.
  • Locate the "+" (Add) button in the upper-left corner of the screen and tap it.
  • Select the desired size for the widget from the available options.
  • Tap "Add Widget" to add the Bing ChatGPT widget to your home screen.
  • Complete the process by tapping "Done."
  • While adding the widget will direct users to the relevant section of the app, it's worth noting that interactive widgets were introduced with iOS 17. Therefore, app developers need to update their apps to fully support this feature.

    Furthermore, the company has also enhanced the performance of the voice input button on the Bing mobile app for iOS and Android. With this improvement, the voice input button instantly indicates that it's actively listening as soon as users tap it.

Toyota will start selling solid-state electric vehicles in 2027




Japanese concern Toyota Motor, despite being the world’s largest automaker, is showing a level of conservatism and indolence in the context of competitors’ rapid transition to electric traction that worries investors. A number of statements by Toyota management on the eve of the annual general meeting of shareholders serve to calm the situation. For example, Toyota will start selling electric vehicles based on solid-state batteries as early as 2027 or 2028.

At least, that’s the Japanese automaker’s current plan, he noted Reuters. By 2026, Toyota expects to increase the annual sales volume of electric vehicles it controls to 1.5 million units per year. By then, the company will offer electric vehicles with larger batteries that can travel up to 1,000 km on a single charge and can be recharged in less than twenty minutes. At the same time, such a traction battery will cost 20% less than the one installed in the existing Toyota bZ4X electric crossover.

By 2026 or 2027, the company will equip a number of its electric vehicles with it, delivering a 20 percent increase in range compared to the current bZ4X (up to 510 km in the front-wheel drive version) and a 40 percent reduction in battery costs.

Vision Pro: Apple’s breakthrough AR headset, and why it is a big deal

Apple has unveiled the Vision Pro, a mixed reality headset that allows “spatial computing” by using the wearer’s eyes, voice and hands. The headset is the biggest breakthrough product from Apple since the launch of the iPhone more than 15 years ago, and could mark the next chapter in personal technology.

What is Vision Pro?

Apple’s first major new product category in eight years, the Vision Pro is a headset that the wearer can control with her eyes, hands, and voice, a feature that other headsets do not have. “It’s the first Apple product you look through and not at,” CEO Tim Cook said. Vision Pro represents “spatial computing”, and brings “a new dimension to powerful personal technology”, he said.

The headset features a glass 23 million-pixel screen that covers the upper part of the user’s face like a pair of oversized ski goggles. The facial interface is adjustable, which means it should provide a closer and more comfortable fit than competing headsets.

What can it do?

According to Apple, the Vision Pro allows users to consume and create content in a new way, in the spaces around them. They can watch movies in 3D, with spatial audio as though they were in a cinema theatre, look at pictures or video, and play video games.

Vision Pro uses a custom software called visionOS which, according to Apple, is “the first OS designed for the ground up for spatial computing”. Architecturally, visionOS is similar to macOS and iOS, but it adds an additional “real-time subsystem” for processing interactive visuals.

There will be a dedicated App Store for Vision Pro. The apps will be tuned for the 3D interface, and will use the headset’s eye tracking and optic ID, allowing the user to use Apple Pay and autofill passwords. Apple has said no user data will be shared without permission.

Windows 11 introduces app privacy settings and easy-to-use VPN: Know more
