In the last few years, we have seen unprecedented changes in how we work, learn, play and live. In response to the pandemic, many of us started to work from home and our children continued their education from home. Many organizations and educational institutes were forced to quickly adapt and ensure a seamless transition to these new environments. This change would not have been possible without internet connectivity and devices such as laptops or PCs. As the restriction eased, we were ushered into a hybrid world.
For example, offices are becoming a place where people go once or twice a week for collaborative work unless the job requires them to be in the office more frequently. Educational institutes, such as schools, have become so savvy with this arrangement, that when the cold wave hit north India, especially Delhi and NCR, most of the schools went back to a learn-from-home environment again. It is reassuring to see that technology is helping us continue irrespective of the challenges. However, this also means that organizations must continue to support and invest in a new culture, remote or hybrid. When it comes to companies, they have to offer the right technology infrastructure and powerful devices to the employees. Educational institutes must also continue to invest in technology in terms of the right collaboration applications and helping teachers become well-equipped with these.
Whatever setup chosen- work or learn from home, remotely, hybrid, or from an office or an institute- it always starts with an end-user compute device. A critical tool or a conduit to everything we do, work or learn from wherever, is a PC. The traditional PC market shipments totaled 73.8 million units during the third quarter of 2022, which remains well above the pre-pandemic levels. PC is central to hybrid working.
It also not wrong to say that our performance can be impacted by our PCs. No wonder, organizations are focused on improving PC performance to ensure that they don’t become a hindrance to this new work culture. As per a study, eighty-seven percent of respondents see the PC as central to their businesses and recognize that supporting a secure and efficient PC environment is crucial for a successful strategy.
A storage device can play a substantial role in helping us become more efficient by upgrading our PC performance. However, a study conducted by TechArc and commissioned by Western Digital, ‘PC Health and Usage – India, revealed that 35.3% of PC users face battery performance-related issues as it drains up quickly, followed by another 34.3% of users complaining about PC boot time.
Case in point, the TechArc study indicates that using a solid-state drive (SSD) can speed up the task of creating video and graphic content up to 4.2x. Data from the study also suggests that an SSD storage device allows users to save up to 3x the amount of time spent on everyday applications. Western Digital’s WD Blue™ SN570 NVMe SSD is a great option for upgrading your PC’s storage drive from an HDD or SATA SSD. This powerful internal drive delivers read speeds up to 3,500 MB/s (500GB – 2TB models) -up to 5X the speed of some of the company’s SATA SSDs- thus helping to assuage worries related to PC lag or load times.
As organizations and educational institutions continue to adopt a hybrid model, innovative technology and high-performance storage solutions will continue to play an important role in helping to power our hybrid world.
